I wake up alone from my dreams
I'm not surprised there's only me
It's been that way so long it seems
There's no other way it could ever be

I look out at the beautiful morning sky
Wondering what pain this day will bring
A couple hold hands as they walk by
Reminding me of how I lost everything

I'll walk this world with a broken smile
Hiding my pain down every single mile
The way I have walked from the start
I only ask you "Lord please..."

"Don't let me die with this broken heart."

I sure like the days when there's rain
When the sky looks so cold and grey
I'll walk and no one can see the pain
Or the tears that fall almost everyday

There's nothing else that I can do
What else is there to do but pray
I tried to get my message through
But no one believes a word I say
