Haunt or be Haunted: Chapter 13

CHAPTER 13
Party Time!

When Shadow and Cordelia walked into the cave, they tip-toed silently to the back. They then laid down next to each other, and sleep engulfed them both.

The next morning, Crystal, Leo, Joey, and Rose were the first ones to get up.
“When do you think Cordelia and Shadow got back?” Crystal asked.
“I don’t know, but we all fell asleep pretty fast.” Rose said.

As Rose said this, Cordelia and Shadow stirred and woke up to find that Crystal, Leo, Rose and Joey were awake.
“Morning guys.” Cordelia said with a smile.
“Morning. When did you guys get back?” Rose asked.

“Um, about a couple of minutes after we left you guys.” Cordelia said as tried to brush her hair with her hands.
While Cordelia was fixing her hair, Rose and Crystal noticed something shiny on Cordelia’s hand.
“Hey Cordelia?” Crystal asked.
“Yeah.” Cordelia replied.

“Um, what’s that on your hand?” Crystal asked trying not to single Cordelia out.
“What, this?” Cordelia asked as she held out her left hand and looked at the ring.
“Wait, is that what I think it is?” Joey asked, as if he knew what was going on.
“Oh my gosh! Cordelia’s engaged!” Rose exclaimed with excitement.

With Rose screaming, Nikki and Sonic woke up.
“What’s this about someone getting engaged?” Nikki asked as she tried to wipe the sleepiness away.
“Cordelia and Shadow are engaged. Look.” Rose said as tears started to form in her eyes.
Nikki and Sonic looked at the hand Cordelia still had out.
“Ooo, Cordelia’s getting it.” Nikki said as she raised her eyebrows.

Cordelia rolled her eyes and laughed.
“We should have a party!” Rose exclaimed.
“Yeah, but how?” Nikki asked.
“Well, Joey and I could go back to the Jewel Cave and get more gems,” Rose suggested.
“Leo and I can go get more flowers,” Crystal added.

Usagi and Gen heard all the commotion and walked in from the forest.
“What is all the commotion about?” Usagi asked.
“Is it about food?” Gennosuke added.

“CORDELIA IS ENGAGED AND WE ARE HAVING A PARTY!” Rose exclaimed loudly.
“Calm down, Rose. No need to get crazy,” Cordelia said calmly.

“Crazy? I’m not crazy. It’s no big deal, really. It’s only one of the most IMPORTANT DAYS IN A GIRL’S LIFE!” Rose exclaimed.
Everyone just stared at Rose with surprise for a minute.

Finally, Gen asked, “Will there be food at this party?”
Leo, Usagi, and Crystal facepalmed.

"Yes, of course there will be food. What's a party without food, right?" Nikki said.
"Alright then, it's settled. We will have a party right here in the camp tonight!" Rose exclaimed happily.
"Okay. Let's get to it then," Nikki said as she and the group stood up.
"Usagi and Gen can keep watch while Leo and I get flowers,” Crystal said.
“Rose and I can go and get decorations.” Joey said.

“Okay, Nikki and I can go get food for the party.” Sonic said.
“Great then, it’s settled. Usagi and Gen, will keep watch, Leo and Crystal will get flowers, Nikki and Sonic will get the food, and Joey and I will get the gems.” Rose said with a smile.

“Wait, what about me and Shadow?” Cordelia asked.
“You two can stay here and be yourselves. You don’t have to do anything,” Rose said.
“That’s fine with me.” Shadow said as he wrapped his arms around Cordelia as she smiled.

Everyone set out to do their jobs. Usagi and Gen scouted the surrounding forest. Leo and Crystal went to the meadow to get flowers. Nikki and Sonic turned into their wolf forms and went out hunting. Rose and Joey went back to the Gem Cave to gather some more gems.

Meanwhile, back at the cave, Cordelia and Shadow were sitting against the wall.
“I’m bored,” Cordelia said.

“I know, but at least we are alone for some time.” Shadow said as he looked at Cordelia and put his hand over her’s.
“Yeah.” Cordelia said as she looked up into his eyes.
Cordelia then took the other hand and touched Shadow’s cheek softly. She pulled his head down and kissed him.

After an hour, everything was finally ready. Joey and Rose had managed to stick the gems on the roof of the ledge, and put eight cups out with the drink that each person loved. Nikki and Sonic brought back three rabbits and an okapi. Leo and Crystal spread flowers everywhere, then they called Usagi and Gen. They all gathered around Rose when she raised her glass.

“I would like to make a toast to Cordelia and Shadow. This marks the beginning of Shadow and Cordelia’s life together. I’ve known you two for over 500 years, and from the beginning, I knew that you two were going to be the people who always put a smile on a persons face. I’m so happy for the two of you. I hope that you both have a great life together. To Shadow and Cordelia,” Rose said as she raised her glass.
“To Shadow and Cordelia.” Everyone, except Shadow and Cordelia, exclaimed as they raised their glasses.
“To us,” Shadow said.

“For an eternity of love, friendship, and companionship,” Cordelia said as she and Shadow raised their glasses.
They all made a toast and drank their glass of either blood, soda, or lemonade.

After thirty minutes of talking and having a good time, there was a loud rustling in the bushes. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at the bushes. There was a loud howl and then about fifty werewolves came out from behind the bushes! Following them were about fifty vampires, fifty zombies, and finally Shredder and his army with the Ultimate Ninja! Leo and Crystal got out their katanas, Usagi and Gen got out their samurai swords, while the rest of the group looked at each other. Rose and Cordelia got out their fireballs, Shadow and Joey got ready to fight with their bare hands, and Nikki and Sonic turned into their wolf forms. Then, two zombies came out of the ground.

“Brian and Niarb. You two are supposed to be underground for 100 years,” Cordelia said.
“Nice to see you, too. We thought we’d come check on you guys. I see you made even more new friends,” Niarb explained.
“And it looks like we have good timing, too.” Brian said as he pointed to the villains.
