Memorial Day should be every day. Some gave all. All gave some. Those at home are torn.
Remember best the men, who died,
and women lost the same,
For honor is always applied,
to each great, worthy name.

So many lives were ever changed,
when death took soldiers, who
Were fathers, brothers, ladies named
in family life so true.

How can we thank such heartfelt loss?
Can we yet fill such hole?
Our gratitude for Freedom’s cost,
is daily borne so cold.

“Not fair,” we mutter under breath,
that good one we so love,
“Has gone the way of all the Earth,
for many yet unmoved.”

The value of the greatest gift,
is not determined by
The ones, who know to these names lift,
it’s written in the sky!

The ones, who lightly esteem the day,
do not diminish aught,
Reflect they do upon their way,
as hearts yet so untaught.

“God, bless as men and women sleep,
in sod or watery grave,
God, grant that we, who still think deep,
will wisely yet behave.

“God, thank we all for price, unknown,
and debt we ne’er can pay,
Please, save us from our moral groan,
and cleanse the words we say.

“America, America,
return to God of youth,
Restore thy Good as Wisdom should,
and live for aye in Truth.”
