It's said, when love is true, the stars align
And so it was when they first met
A harmonic convergence of souls
Fated to find each other

She was Love embodied
Flowers, animals, broken things
She approached them all
With kindness and care

She was bruised and battered
By hard-edged people and crushing circumstance
But love and hope still flourished
As seedlings from her tender soul

He was an idealistic seeker
Who'd fought a less-than-ideal world
To keep his dreams, his deepest self
From starving in aloneness

She was water to a parched and dying man
And he was shelter from raging storms
Venus and Mars, in the love of a lifetime
Magical, mystical, and mysterious

And troubles came, as troubles do
Sometimes, she wants him soft and open
Sometimes, he needs her fierce and strong
Sometimes they are, and sometimes not

At times in the struggle of two against the world
They fight one another
And some say time will take its toll
Sundering souls struggling to stay in sync

But Venus and Mars are alright tonight
They fight for one another, too
Their hearts return in the endless cycle
To the love that made them one.
