Sophie the cat knows a lot! |
Kazi Falguni Eshita “Meow is what I mostly say, In the yard is where I play.” Hi, I’m Sophie. I used to live with my many other brothers and sisters at a place called Rite Aid. Babies and children felt attracted by me. Why? I’m a stuffed toy you see. I love children. I enjoy being with and around little ones. Some of the children I met at my previous home could be really rude, though. They pulled at my soft, pink fur. Ouch! Rite Aid was actually a pharmacy. So, everyday thousands of different odors would hit my nostrils. Medicines, ready snacks or cosmetics- every thing used to be sold in there. I’d often glare at the medicine shelf. People say: medicines can help someone feel better during illness. Oh really? Some of the fever-killing medicines taste so bitter if taken without water. Yuck! Some painkillers can create harmful side effects too! Here in America, some of the children really enjoy eating chips. Ruffles, Lays, Dorritoes… the list goes on! Chips cost $1.50 per pack, so that might seem quite cheap. But you know what? If you don’t eat chips everyday, you can save yourself from problems like high blood pressure or tooth cavities. A snack once in a while is fine, though. I’ll give you an idea: save the amount you spend on chips, and at the end of the month, you’ll have enough money to buy a new stuffed toy or a few coloring books. Even adults, those addicted to either coffee or soda can spend at least $ 1.60 per day on such beverages. If by any chance, they like stuff from branded places like Starbucks, at least $ 2 goes down the drain per day! I mean, you can live without coffee, can’t you? Well, they say humans are slaves of habits. Yes, be slaves, no problem, just try to engage yourselves in good habits instead of harmful ones. |
