What if the lie was itself a lie? My response to a prompt.
         What if
         for once you didn't lie.
         Still the swagger.
         Banish the bravado.
         Gag the glib and its guile.
         Shrug off your cloak of nonchalance.
         What if
         pretense prevaricated?
         Feeble, fickle façade;
         two-way mirror of distortion,
         illusion, sleight of hand, misdirection.
         What if
         the charade shimmers, shape-shifts?
         What if
         the delusion dances, taunts?
         What if
         for once you didn't lie.
