An emotional [I hope] poem about art.
Art is a word that means more than just drawings, songs and rhymes
It holds a world of deeper meaning, just look for the signs
Like when some people look down at their arms
And they don’t see skin, they see a canvas to be drawn on
While others see paper that’s designed to be cut
For them an exacto knife is a blessing that’ll cut their paper up
They are warriors in everyone’s eyes, warriors that are too strong to cry
So instead of showing weakness, they just bleed water from their eyes
Flowing like a stream from the faucet tapped into our imagination
Just like the Painter, we’re in love with our creations
All an artist is, is a universe trapped in a person
And at every opportunity, they are going to try to burst open
But if true love is supposed to be a form of art
Then I want to erase it all and then trace it from the start
Because every single time I’ve drawn, something has always gone wrong
I can’t find real love, I’ve got to order it on Amazon
But I don’t feel sorry for me, I’m as happy as ever
Weighed down by the desire to do well while I’m tethered
To the weight of college and the distractions of life
And all things we have to do to make it all alright
We’ve got our future in the stars
The planets are aligned perfectly
And we’re free to choose our own fate because the universe is ours
There are a little over seven billion, four hundred and three million people on the planet
And each of them is an artist in their own way
From the day they are born until the day our life fades
And we pass into legends through drawings, songs and rhymes
To a world of deeper meaning where we can learn to read between the lines
Where we can be free of depression, stress and loneliness
It’s the place where we can discard our masks and find comfort in closeness
Where our art can be left to flourish with pride
And with every new artist, our legacy survives
Yet for now, we’re trapped in an art gallery
Trying to create something worth being remembered
Someone please stop by so I can try to show you that the future’s bright
And remember
This world is yours to conquer
