seeking a dream
since first we met, I loved you.
no other stands above you.
my dreams are always of you—
I pledged I would be true.

your smile is like the lightning,
a flash, the whole world brightening.
your hold on me is tightening—
I think of only you.

through endless nights I chase you,
in dreaming I embrace you.
precarious to face you—
without a dream to skew.

I tried innocuous tokens
but left my love unspoken,
and now my heart is broken—
by the cruel things you do

for you’re sworn to another.
gave her a ring. it smothered
my last hope. you love her—
though I am right for you.

nothing rests inside me
because you are denied me.
and your death, alongside me—
will make my dream come true.
