If Imagination

I got up, I put on the tube.
Looked at the news show, more of that old woe,
more murder and mayhem again.
There was shooting, at Civic Center.
Why does it worsen?  Innocent person,
life snuffed out in the blink of an eye--
well okay, if this goes down,
then how will civilization survive?

If imagination,
I’d banish the bad.
If imagination,
then how about a world of glad?

There is war, a long way from here.
Evil of Isis, a planet in crisis
the battlefields aplenty all right.
Soldiers dead, and soldiers wounded.
Even civilians, hardship for millions
and refugees left out in the rain--
well okay, if this be true,
then what’s the human race got to gain?

If imagination,
I’d banish the bad.
If imagination,
then how about a world of glad?

So much hate, one not need go far.
Koran and Bible make many libel
for attitudes that blacken the heart.
Prejudice, and sheer bigotry.
Righteous the thumping always disrupting
the love that simply wants to abide--
well okay, if it goes on,
then maybe we can all say goodbye.
