Huttime Shouldn’t Have Asked That

     The three of them looked so cute in their costumes. One was dressed as a pumpkin head with very small candles instead of eyes. And one was dressed as a scarecrow. But they had no face, no feet and no hands – just straw. The third one looked exactly like a witch. She also had no feet. And she appeared to float a little above the ground.

     They were also very tall too. That’s the first thing Huttime noticed when she opened his door. “How old are you kids?”

     “You should never ask a female that question? I curse you,” Zilla, the witch, said. She pointed her wand at Huttime. And shakes it once at him. But nothing happened.

     “A scarecrow is supposed to be tall,” Braddin, a scarecrow, said. “Have you ever seen a short scarecrow?” His straw hands were together as though he stopped slapping his hands after they touched. Those hands were in front of his face – pointing up.

     “I’m not tall,” Wallid, the pumpkin head, said. “I just look tall because of my big head.” The fire in the candle eyes flared up. They flared up so much they shot out the sockets a little.

     “I still don’t think you are kids,” said Huttime. “But here’s some candy anyway.” Huttime puts one piece of candy into each one of their now outstretched bags.

     After giving them their candy Huttime closed the door. As he entered his living room he: He now had a pumpkin head with a witch’s hat, a witch nose and a witch wart. He also looked like he was floating a little above the ground. Then there were his hands and feet. They were now made of straw too.
