A poem about how things really are throughout life |
Inevitably, When we are young We will meet our first friend And precious, innocent memories will now begin. Inevitably, One day our first love will suddenly appear Our heart filled with enduring emotions A new aspect of life has now become clear. Inevitably, We will face a crossroad, where a decision must be made Learning to choose right from wrong Our moral foundation now being laid. Inevitably, We will learn what it means to truly be in love To want to give all we can give And be thankful for this gift from above. Inevitably, The day will come we will experience a broken heart We will experience what real sadness is And we will learn how to make a fresh start. Inevitably, One day we will hurt those we care about Although not through ill intentions We now begin to experience self doubt. Inevitably, After taking something for granted, we will learn to go without It is then we will know true regret And what being thankful for what we have is all about. Inevitably, Through the years, as we age and grow old We will realize our best years are behind us And all these precious memories, we must always keep hold. Inevitably, One final day Death will be knocking at our door How it is we will choose to greet him Will depend on the person we have chosen to become. Whether rich or poor. |
