Farewell to summer's green
More subtle brown and red
Will take the leaves to ground
For Winter's snowy bed

Fall is a time of change
Sweet strawberries now gone
While apples crisp and tart
Delight both eye and tongue
And stuff full Autumn's cart

From verdant growing life
All Hallows Eve has led
When harvest time is done
To thoughts about the dead
