Directions are a difficult thing thing to follow. You just received your new firpensmaggle by express delivery! It requires some assembly before you can operate it. Write directions for assembly and operating your new firpensmagle and don't forget to tell us what it does.

My Firpensmaggle

It has arrived
The box dented and ripped in one corner
A package that looked like
It had come through
Every port and place
From here
To Timbuku.
I lifted it up
Heaved it onto my workbench
And let out a sigh.
Ready, I cut the box flaps
And tipped to see
What was inside
Bits and pieces
My firpensmaggle
Had come unassembled
Even in this huge box
I had to put it back together
I pulled out the flangdoodle
It was the biggest piece
I figured everything
Everything would attach to it
I found the directions
And stared at the images
Dumbstruck.
I began to sweat
Okay, I can do this.
For Phoebe,
I could do this.
I took the thingamajig
And hooked it
Into the thingy
That made the doohickey
Turn and whirl.
I smiled at that little victory;
Small steps would get me there.
Next the whatchamacallit
I flipped it back and forth
Determining exactly where
The thingy would go
Finally I attached it
To the whosit
And moved the whatsit
So that it vibrated
Sending up a perfect
Pitched sound
That had me smiling.
My firpensmaggle
Was finally together.
Its colours were riotous.
Its sound beautiful
In their tones.
I smiled
Feeling like I had
Accomplished the world.
This firpensmaggle was
A confidence builder
Made to lift your spirits
And pull you back to a place;
A place of fun and hope.
I smiled and knew
I had done it.
There was no challenge
I could not beat
I knew this needed
A place of honour
In my office.
So that I could look at it
And touch it whenever
I needed a moment
To refuel my energy
And my confidence.
I could do it.
I had this.
We had this.
And we would never
Be the same again.
