Braving, the whiskey river,
O i'm trying not to die
'Ore the gentle path we set on,
somehow went a'rye
You left and took the paddle, leaving me to cry-
So now i'm speeding down the river whiskey,
And I know I'm going to die
As the rapids get faster,
I pray and ask her why-
I'm drowning in the river,
of fermented corn and rye!
We used to laugh and sing, on our paddle boat,
Until you left me- stranded here afloat
The river's running high, And I don't see a moat.
These whiskey river rocks, are gonna sink my boat.
As I sink into the whiskey, the river pulls me hard,
I cry out your name, and you give no regard,
A last shout escapes me, with it goes my air,
My last sight my lady, Standing o're there,
Looking so lovely, shining on the shore-
And soon the river whiskey, will make me hurt no more.
