Chapter 2 of 'The Sun Caught In Her Raven Hair'
When the darkness passed and the village was bright, everyone made their way back to what they were doing prior to the eclipse. Many wondered of the meaning behind it, though very few were brave enough to ask or even talk about what just happened. One of these few was the dark wizard, he had made his story to fit that of the eclipse, his daughter being ripped from him during the prolonged darkening sky, no mention of his magic or the gift of his daughter. His story was clear and well thought out, even Ash; his 6 year old knew exactly what to say when the time came for people to ask questions about her sister's supposed kidnapping and whereabouts.

Bracing himself for the onslaught of questions and empty sympathy of his fellow villagers, he made his way out and through into the market square, apparent distraught on his face. Shouting wildly about how his daughter was missing, the onlookers watching and listening with intent despair, knowing the man who usually kept to himself was so openly expressing his feelings in their presence, not knowing how to comfort the man although it seemed impossible in the state they saw him in. Women walked out of their houses clutching their children to them for the second time that day, seemingly knowing the pain he was going through, they thought the loss of a child was an unbearable thing. Little did they know, he knew exactly what he was doing, putting on a fine show of distraught father mourning the taking of his own child.

Meanwhile, Esmeralda flew away from the life she knew. A bit wobbly in the air, she soon learnt how to move through the sky on wing, against the wind and with the wind. Settling down on a large oak tree branch in a village 4 miles north of her home, she thought about what had just happened and how drastic her life had changed, yes she was only 4 years old, but as her raven form took hold, her mental processing had quickened and she was now a much mature mind being able to think clearly as an adult. She quickly learned that she would only survive if she let her raven mind take over, almost completely. The raven being adapted to life on the wing and without anyone else to help was her only chance of surviving the next 6 years until she would be able to change back into her human form again.

She would miss out on so much, growing up in the village would have been ideal, she had friends there away from her home life and now they were all but gone, would they miss her? Would they even notice she had even gone? She thought of the many ways in which her father could have hidden her disappearance, an illness perhaps? Making her housebound and highly contagious? Sounded about right to her, it's not like her father would come out straight and say what happened. The sadness washed over her, was she the one who had really caused all of this, and her cursed ability, had been passed down from her own father. Anger now tore through her heart; how could he hate his daughter with such a passion for something that wasn't even her fault, when it was something that he had given her himself?
