He would do anything for her. Anything to save her from her demons.
At night, in her room,
Curled up in bed;
The blankets, pulled tight,
Cover her head.
Tears moisten her eyes; cheeks ashen and stark,
Scared of the monsters that hide in the dark.

"Listen, don't cry.
No need to fear.
What's 'neath your bed,
Just isn't real.
I'll make sure you're safe. Those monsters I'll quell.
Even if saving you sends me to hell."

From then on he swore,
To protect her; be bold.
"Your pain I'll take,
Your fear I'll hold.
Those monsters I'll steal, I can keep them at bay.
Just give them to me and they will stay away.

"They break your heart.
They hurt your mind.
Protect you, I will,
From all their kind.
And no matter what, I will guard you well.
Even if saving you sends me to hell."

For too many years,
Fear held her heart.
Haunting her soul,
They tore her apart.
"You gave them to me, but they keep coming back.
Now I know only one way to stop their attacks.

"For I hold your fears,
Carry your dread.
Those monsters that lay,
Inside your head.
Let me take them away, and they'll no longer dwell..."
So for her, far he went. Yes, as far as hell.
