She kisses him on the neck

Telling him it's going to be all right

And he just keeps staring

At their burning home

And he feels no anger

Nor sadness

Only a sense of broken self-worth

For that is all that is left of him

A broken man standing on the street

With a woman who says she loves him

And a baby in his arms

And he doesn't cry
