a poem about love and the qualities it brings forth |
What is Love? Love is unscheduled fun in the middle of the day Taking chances, inviting a stranger to join you and play. Love is giving all you have got and then some With no thought of what will come back around your way. Love is having the courage to say "Yes" With no guarantee of how things will work out Love is full of glee and good times And some times Love is a deep breath instead of a shout. Love is there after the party The embrace after the break down Unable to do anything love will hold the space. Love is the resilience to stay and offer grace. Love is the strength to stand up to something bigger than you Smarter than you Not knowing what you are going to do. Love acknowledges your pain and still reaches out again and again and again. Despite lack of gain. Most of all Love is responsibility Your personal accountability Love is the acceptance That you did the right or the wrong thing Or worse - That you did nothing Not ONE thing No thing. Love is in each tear that comes Realizing we cannot undo what's been done. Love banishes contempt of self and others - Love coaxes you out of bed when all you want To do is hide under the covers. Love cleans out those metaphorical closets With understanding and compassion It disassembles our composites. Love humbly puts down piousness. Love is the apology behind the righteousness. Love - you can apply it liberally - no need to ration Once you start giving it out it multiplies With love there is no subtraction The supply is infinite As long as you are not ambivalent. Love turns your anantomy into a vessel for spiritual alchemy. Love understands The madness The sadness The badness Inside of us all Love forgives - releases - uplifts it all. Love repairs calamity. Love outlives tragedy. Love is the remedy. |
