Classic MKTO
It seems life is moving too fast for me lately. The news presents me with nothing but emergencies, cultural norms that always seemed worthwhile are now discarded carelessly, and technology evolves so rapidly I can't keep up. While I believe there is no going back, speeding up further seems damaging.

I've always liked things that were older, slower, and kinder. In a life surrounded by sharp edges, I employ and enjoy a private buffer zone, composed of older things. Movies from the 1940's and1950's, floor length skirts, and Art Deco compose part of this list.

My teenage sons regularly expose me to more contemporary music, but attempt not to upset my tender sensibilities. My older son requested a particular Nightcore song one morning. I cheerfully located the Nightcore version of the song "Classic" by MKTO. For those unfamiliar with Nightcore, it is taking a song or other piece of music and speeding it up. Making out the lyrics to an unfamiliar song played at high speed is, alas, not one of my talents. However, I did hear one lyric that captured my attention. " I want to kiss you like Prince" was the lyric, and I felt taken aback that a song from 2014 would reference the 1980's. Wow, I knew what that meant. After the boys left, I found a version that played at regular speed and listened. This song encouraged me. While the current generation asks "Who is Paul McCartney?", I know that some young people remain who know what things are "Classic."
