Update on profile plus a revision of older work
(I do not know if this is the right place to put a note on updating my profile, so I apologize In advance if this kind of content goes somewhere else). Hello fellow writers! I have not been using my account in a while, despite positive feedback on my work. I am not going to waste any time giving an excuse. I will say, as of right now, I plan on posting something soon. So please be on the look out to give honest reviews on my work.

To at least begin making up for my lack of content, below is a revision of my previous work, A Ship At Sea. I received comments saying it is not technically in any category, so this should help clarify it as poetry.

Connor Puetzer: A Ship At Sea

My heart was once a ship on an endless sea,

Constantly searching for the promised land,

Never actually expecting to find it.

I let multitudes of different people,

from different walks of life,

Guide my ship.

They promised to show me the way to shore,

But somewhere along the way,

There was, and always will be,

An obstruction.

They put a gash on the side of my ship

And instead of staying to fix the hull,

They left me stranded and alone.

In these moments, I found myself continuously staring down,

Into the endless abyss below me,

Wishing it would take me.

I know now that I must sail on.

I must keep searching for that one person,

Who will show me the way to shore.

One day they will come out of nowhere,

And into my life.

The currents will stop,

The abyss will be as a rumor,

And the only thing that will exist is me, and them.

As human beings, it is our very nature,

We let people into our hearts in our search for love.

Most of these people will do nothing,

Besides leave a crack in the hull.

We may never find the one person that all of us so desperately needs.

We could be taken by the mighty tide,

That the sea ceaselessly berates our ship with,

And all of our efforts could be in vain,

As we are slowly taken to the bottom.

But there is still that omnipotent, unending hope,

That one day on a blue moon,

That perfect person will come along.

This hope, this dream,

Is stronger then the tides will ever be.

This is the most terrifying and beautiful aspect of life,

Because when you are old and reaching the end of your journey,

It is not the small cracks that will tear you asunder,

Its the people you never let aboard,

That will truly sink your ship. {/left}
