Once truly in love with another, this poem is about broken promises to each other and God. |
-We Share This Paralyzed- by Keaton Foster Here There Where I don’t know All because You and I Cannot look around We are unable to see Metaphorically blind We share this paralyzed Our bodies frozen tight Our limbs made useless We should just be dead But I fear that we are not We are in fact So very much alive Each and every night We end up back here Under these terrifying stars Punched in this Suffocating blackness What we see is part of our doom A message that no one knows We are the only ones That can decipher such madness The only ones meant to understand Before the sun does again climb Another piece of us Will have been chipped away Once dawn rises through Our limbs will again move Becoming useable appendages Becoming frightening methods In which we can further inflict damage As we have many of times before We will quickly separate Parting if only for a time Because we both understand That once darkness returns We will be right back here Devoid of any and all motion Under an increasingly empty Strata scape of nothing refined We share this paralyzed Some version of this fate will in time Leave us hopelessly intertwined At that point there will be no escape No separation of matter and state Frozen through our spines We will lay here in pitch darkness Holes punched in suffocating sadness Will be a message for us to explore For an eternity of nothing more We did what we did We swore allegiance to each other We cursed God that even death Would never drive our love apart Such over confidence has marked us And now that our once powerful love Has been completely dismantled We are left to face the broken promises Of things that we should have known Where just not remotely possible We share this paralyzed Our love is nowhere to save us Our faith is no reason to redeem us We failed each other and God above Such things he does not take lightly We should have been humble Instead of so incredibly arrogant We of course will have time to reflect Each night that finds us Is just a reminder of what’s next Of what we will face after this Our promise to each other And our God above Is not something That can be overlooked We share this paralyzed… We Share This Paralyzed Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2014. |
