Yesterday

Yesterday, I was defeated
But yet today, I still live.
The End would have been welcomed,
But yet, here I am

I can't say that staying is easy
I won't say that I want to leave,
There's too many things left to do
Too many words to be spoken

There aren't enough notes to explain
Not enough messages to be left
That can justify saying goodbye
And can allow me to pass clean

My feet are still underneath me
My heart continues to beat
The world keeps turning
And sooner or later everything is old news

I'll start here making it right
A clean slate for a new day
Yesterday, I was defeated
But, then again, that was yesterday
