Meeting the day and being grateful. Contest Entry for Birthday Bash 2014.
Early morning dawn awakens
It greets the day on fiery wisps
Calling out, its still voice beckons
Take up your boat and head far out
Beyond the lands - grand, hold about
Sit and marvel, let silence dance
And you will find your perfect trance.




The form is a Saraband. There are 7 lines with 8 syllables in each. It has a rhyming pattern in the French version: a.x.a....b.b.c.c.
As for including conventions:
I have used assonance:
-lands grand
-boat and out can be depending on your pronunciation
-its still
I have used personification;
-in that the land holds onto the person
-in that the silence dances
