A poem about the phrase, "Everything happens in threes"
It happens in threes,
How can it be?
You're the first to fly away
Through the leaves of your beloved birch tree
To join the billion little stars in the night sky,
But now you are not here...
With me.
So far from touch
So far from sight.

It happens in threes,
How can it be?
The second to be free
From the fragile clasps of life.
From the pain and tears of sickness you flee,
But now you are not here...
With me.
So far from touch
So far from sight.

It always happens in threes,
How can it be?
You were in my arms
As you gave your last shimmering smile to me,
For you heard the angel's bells and drifted away,
But now you are not here...
With me.
So far from touch
So far from sight.
