A free verse for the Stormy's Poetry Newsletter and Contest.
I never knew you better before you deceived me.
Your spiteful, malicious nature then manifested itself.
Your evil desire burnt my heart and soul into ashes.
But I do not seek revenge for your twisted deed and grave sin.

How could you murder my innocent, guileless love like this?
How could you pierce my heart with the sword of your treachery?
How could you plunge into my heart with the scythe of disloyalty?
How could you nip my love at the bud that did not effloresce?

Blood gushes out from the raw gashes in my heart,
Like fountains they celebrate your sanguinary success.
Tears of deep agony I weep but in utter futility.
For I know that the man I loved is but a cad.

Through the vortex of misery I slide down,
Land into the darkest crevices of my mind.
A pall of gloom enshrouds my mind in inky drapes
Where happiness and joy are afraid to enter and enlighten.

Prompt: heart, spiteful, deceive, pierce, twisted, revenge, plunge, evil
