Vacation time is not always a holiday, fate may have other ideas about it. |
Holiday at Home The College year has ended and my kids are coming home, And the missus quit her job so no one will be alone. I think I'll take vacation now while everyone is there, And we can holiday together, where the weather's always fair. They say the plans of mice and men just can not transpire, Both jump from the frying pan, right into the fire. My ma-in-law is getting old, and is needing tender care So my wife is not on holiday, she needs to be right there. My kids don't think I am much fun, when on holiday So they caught a plane, went overseas, far far away. Now I am on holidays, and the fam'ly have all gone I think I'll take a fishing trip, it's years since I had one. I'll have to get my friend next door to feed the ginger cat I'll get my lines from the shed and that's the end of that. But that cat has just had kittens in my garden barrow And that neighbor starts a camping tour, tomorrow. I can't leave our bloody cat to the mercy of stray dogs So I guess I'm stuck where I am, like a tractor bogged. I lie in bed, me alone, no warm soul close to touch When I hear a mournful yowling, this is just too much. I go get my torch and bring that meowwing cat inside, I just wheeled the bugger in, took the kittens for a ride. the kitchen was the nearest place to park the garden barrow, I can walk around it there, even though the kitchen's narrow. There you have the story of my last vacations joys Me, with a load of kittens, hope they're mostly boys, Sitting in my kitchen with soft mewing, purring sounds, To keep me company with no family members round. |
