I don't know what to name this story. Any help will be appreciated and credited. Thanks!
"Mommy! Why are we running?! I'm scared!" I cried as Mom grabbed me and carried me through the woods.

The trees were getting greener as spring warmed the air. The ground with still we from the morning dew and the sun was high in the sky. The trees cast long, thin shadows. I heard the birds sing as Mom set me down and told me to hide.

"And don't come out until I come to get you or you see a police officer, okay?" She said with a slight quiver in her voice and pure terror in her icy blue eyes. "Mommy loves you, now go!"

I looked around quickly, and saw a large tree with a hole just large enough for me to fit. I crawled in and curled up tight.

"There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you!" Said a mans gravely voice. I couldn't see his face from where i was perched. I could still see my mother, as she whirled around to face the man, defiance playing on her features.

"What do you want from us?" she asked, hiding the quaver in her voice with anger.

The man chuckled, "The girl. All I want is the girl. Where did u hide her?"

Mother tensed. "I don't know what your talking about. I don't have any girl with me."

I heard the gunshot, and watched as my mother fell, red leaking around her. And I screamed.
