A poem about heartbreak and bad relationships
I always thought you'd treat me well
If you would lie, that I could tell
I was convinced that it was love
You were my angel from above

I always thought you meant it when
You said to me "never again"
That I would never have to feel
The pain that I wished wasn't real

If only I could just be numb
Ignore the devil you've become
Forget I thought you'd change your ways
Go back to happy, better days

There's no sun now, there's only rain
There's no happiness, only pain
The worst is that, though you've hurt me
I'm powerless to just break free

I don't want to be rid of you
I just want to start anew
Forget the pain and darker days
Believe ahead is where hope lays

One day I might leave you behind
Find happiness and peace of mind
For now, I'll just stay here instead
With you, the monster in my head

Whispering it will be fine
Convincing me that you are mine
When what you mean is I can't go
A prisoner with you, my foe
