THE OWL AND THE MERMAID

The owl and the mermaid met one day
On an internet dating site.
The owl was doing his PHD
Whilst the mermaid; she loved to write.
The mermaid swam in the deep blue sea
With the fish she moved sublime,
The owl in the water, he flapped his wings
And thought “I will make her mine,
Her mine”
He thought “I will make her mine”

“Oh lovely owl! I am coming to stay –
Do you think you will be a good host?”
Said the mermaid to the owl who smiled
And he made her beans on toast.
They were married with cheer, in another three years
On an island prone to rain
But they had lots of fun and when it was done
They left for the sun on a plane,
A plane,
They left for the sun on a plane.

The owl and the mermaid went to sea
In a beautiful glass bottomed boat
On honeymoon as they toasted champagne
A jellyfish saw they afloat.
The owl he took the mermaid's hand
As they sailed away under the stars
And the jellyfish sang in the balmy night
“What a lovely couple you are,
You are,
What a lovely couple you are”
