    Melody of the Heart

There was Sean and Clare looking at their cottage, which now seems so empty.  They have bittersweet thoughts of how time has passed.  Their children are grown and have chosen to leave this land, this Ireland, for a better future.

They stop and smile. They kiss and hold each other but tears fall.  They think to themselves how the world is changing and how, even their land, is different.

When they were young they would run, carefree, through this valley.  They knew every creature and heard their lovely sounds and melody.  Now things seem strangely empty of love.

As the sun begins to set, they hold each other in the grass and watch on.  The orange of the setting sun was giving way to the mist as it moved toward them.  "Hear with your heart," my Clare.

A cool breeze blew strands of her long lustrous red hair and Sean stood up with is hand waiting for her.  "Let's dance like we never danced before."

This was their time to live and feel alive.  Soon the sky was dark and the moon begins to make its presence known.  The stardust was falling upon them as they begin twirling and twirling to the music in their hearts.

Sean and Clare knew nothing would ever change their love for each other.  Not time or distance or even death.  He kissed her hand and held it tightly.  Soon the stardust appears to form a funnel.  Could this be magic or just wishful thinking?

Would they finally be able to reach the stars? Could it be that the stars in their eyes would be enough?

The magic night ends as the sun begins to rise. They walk off to their cottage as they have many times before.  This was their land and their love that would last forever.

As I listened to the music, my mind could picture two lovers on a grassy hill on an important night for them.
