Snow pancake

Twenty-two degrees with snow on the ground was the perfect element for Icicle and Flake.  Their snow formed bodies molded nicely to the packed snow beneath them.  Icicle and Flake were probably the best formed snow people on the block.  Over the years tension and hostility built up on their relationship. 

"Every year we are built in the same spot."  said Icicle shifting his icy bottom.  "I want a different spot." 

"You complain every year for a few months."  said Flake as she readjusted the scarf around her snowy neck. 

"I just want a new spot so that I can see the area around me."  said Icicle scratching his big, snowy belly. 

"Nothing has changed in the area."  said Flake rubbing her carrot nose.  "If you continue to complain you won't have to worry about a new spot." 

"Why, what does that mean?"  asked Icicle his button eyes twitching. 

"I can't take much more of your complaining."  said Flake.  "I enjoy my spot quite nicely." 

"I'm sorry, but it's an uninteresting spot." said Icicle waving his twig arm. 

"That's it."  said Flake pushing him with all her might.  "I've had it." 

"Oh no."  yelled Icicle trying to catch all three parts of his body. 

He rolled down the hill with his head going in one direction, his torso in another, and his bottom in another.  He came to rest in the middle of the road.  He tried to gather himself since he could feel a vibration coming.  He tried to shimmy his head over to his middle section so that he could make his way over to his bottom.  He was just about to grab his lower half, but he was too late.

BAM!!!!!  Icicle's head was flattened like a pancake along with his midsection.  The impact from the salt truck shifted his lower half which came to rest on a new batch of snow.  Flake had slid down seeing the impact. 

"Welcome back."  said Flake.  "Enjoy your new spot."
