Alive

The lights fade away into the night.
This darkness takes over,
But where does it end?

The maze twists and turns,
Trapdoors force us to go deeper,
Into the choking abyss.

We're losing our hope,
We're about to give up,
We're drowning now.

We've reached the bottom,
And the only place to go is up.

The weight forces us back down,
But we have the will to fight on.
The air is chased from our lungs.
Our time's almost up.

We must survive,
We must carry on our legacy.
Even though we're dead inside,
We're the most alive.

Our dreams are crushed,
Our temples left burned,
But our spirit is still raging on.

They never understood,
And they chain weights to us,
So we sink back down.
But we're half way there.

We're forced back down,
But we're fighting on.
The air is almost gone,
Our time's almost up.

We must survive,
To carry on our legacy,
Even though we're dead inside,
We're the most alive.
