Bank Withdrawal

By: J Stanley

Just another ordinary day at the bank, the minutes ticked away at what seemed hours.  Kim looked up at the clock with a big sigh.  “Wednesday are so slow.”

Allison looked over in agreement.  “You’re telling me, three more hours.”

Dave pulled up to the bank and was thankful he saw no cars in the parking lot.  Pulled his sedan up by the door and walked in.  Dave got a phone call on his way home to grab some extra cash.  His wife always seemed to need him to stop somewhere before he came home.  He walked up the check writing stand for a withdrawal slip and began to fill it out.

Suddenly the doors crashed open a man in a mask holding a gun screamed.  “Do exactly as I say and no one gets hurt, this is a stick up!”

Kim and Allison went into a panic looking around.  They were looking for the manager, and Kim saw him slip under his desk in the corner to hide.

“Fill up the bags quickly.  No bait money or dye packs, just what you have in the top and bottom drawer.  No alarms, quickly I don’t want to hurt anyone!”  The Bandit demanded at Kim and Allison.

Dave stood still at the counter in the middle of the lobby.  Not wanted to make any sudden moves to spook this guy.  Last thing he wanted was to see this guy shooting.

“Hands where I can see them buddy!”  Screamed the Bandit making sure Dave knew who was in control.

The bag were getting filled in a hurry.  Kim and Allison franticly throwing everything they had in the bag.  The looks on their face was of complete terror.

The Bandit grabbed the bags and turned to run for the door at a full sprint.

Dave watched as the Bandit passed him.  Then reached in his jacket unclipping the shoulder holster releasing his Berretta.  He took aim and clipped of two rounds at the Bandit.  The noise that retorted in the bank was deafening.  Both rounds found the Bandits right thigh.  He stumbled in mid step throwing the bags and gun as he screamed in pain.

Dave ran up pulled out his cuffs wrenched the Bandits hands behind his back.  He pulled out his cell phone and placed a call.  “Operator this is Detective Weathers.  I am at the bank on Preston Road and Luther Lane.  I just stopped an armed robbery in progress please send a bus and patrol.”  He said with a sigh of relief.

Dave wiped his brow and whispered.  “Wife is not going to believe why I’m late this time.”
