An Irish Farewell

A mournful note
Floats to the sky,
As the bagpipe sings
A soulful goodbye.

A brace of kinsmen
In their tartan plaids,
They lay to eternal rest
Their brother, a mere lad.

On the white cliffs
through lavender fields,
Intermingled with shamrocks
His body is in the earth sealed.

But he is not dead
He merely lies in rest,
With the fairies and dragons
To return for another quest.

Do not mourn him
But celebrate his life,
Raise a pint of Guinness
Play the fiddle and the fife.

Dance a joyful jig
For his memory is eternal
To be forever remembered
In our Life’s Journal.
