Apollo's Lament

Dark footprints gather together
in the sky above and crowd
around each other.

Apollo's red gleam fights
to see past them
For a glimpse at the Goddess of the Sea.

But Neptune has denied their love
and Zeus has condemned them
to living worlds apart.

Yet she reaches toward him,
longing for his fiery embrace
in a white wave of passion.

Zeus throws his mighty spear
and separates the sky.
Apollo's pink finger subsides.

But as his tears fall from the sky,
they land in her tormented depths
And he becomes a part of her soul.
