A metaphor of my conversion to Christ!
Ours was a long affair;

But it was always dependent on what she did wear.

For she had a wardrobe to which none could compare;

And she could look good almost anywhere.

When we were together my face it would gleam.

As long as she would impress our lives were a dream.

Her name was Lady Luck, known to many I'm sure;

And to resist her good fortunes there was no cure.

Where you would see me, you would see her;

For without her , I'm afraid, my life was a blurr.

I leaned on her heavily; I lusted for so much;

But eventually our affair became for me just a crutch.

When I tried to walk away she held very tight.

The more I tried to seperate, the more it became a fight!

But one night it hit me, a load I couldn't bear.

I felt so heavy and alone; even though she was still there.

It was the color of her hair and the cloths that she wore.

Something was different right to the core.

For where there had been vitality everything was black

Because when she ceased to smile she took everything back.

I felt so hopeless left only to myself

Like I had been discarded or placed on a shelf.

But when she withdrew her good fortune and I bid her adiue,

For a moment I was lost; but then someone sought me anew.

They had been watching from a distance it seemed

And saw me abandoned when I needed to be redeemed.

It was there at that moment for the first time I saw

And beholding her beauty I just stood there in awe!

Now she wouldn't have appealed to just anyone you see;

But she was to me, what none other could be.

She promised she would stand by me; there would never be another.

For she loved with a love that even bettered a brother.

It wasn't what she wore that caught the glimpse of my eye;

But the humility she possessed was a beauty I couldn't deny.

I knew little about her, only that her name was GRACE!

But she lifted me up with a love that felt like a mother's embrace.

And when she took me to her father, I saw that he ruled from a thone;

But from the way that she dressed it would have never been known.

I came to love her because she first had loved me

And she had a subtle beauty only those who need her can see.

She sought me; I was not looking for her.

But, when I hit the bottom she found me as it were.

Ours is an affair that never will cease;

For through all of eternity her love will only increase!
