Slosh, slosh, slosh, Neffel was sick of the sound his boots made as he sloshed through the marsh. The ad he answered made Sqornshellous Zeta seem like an ideal planet to work and make money, but it was far from the truth. Hunting mattresses wasn't a glamorous job, and the marshes where he worked were over two-thousand miles from the beaches with the beautiful women that we in the ad.

The job payed well, but the cost of living was so high that it would take him years to save enough to afford a flight off the planet. He soon realized that his best bet was to hitch a ride. The light on his Sub-Etha Thumb blinked regularly, but no ships had offered him a ride. Well, some Dentrassis had offered him a ride on a Vogon ship, but he wasn't that desperate yet.

After meeting his quota for the day, he went home and tried again. He had been trying for months but he felt that today was the day. After several refusals, he almost jumped for joy when he finally got an offer, and the best part was that they were heading to Milliways. He had heard that they were always hiring.

They were leaving in five minutes, but it shouldn't be a problem. He always kept his bag packed just for such a situation. He threw in a few items and chugged a few beers before he realized something was missing.

"Oh no! Where's my towel!"

Then he remembered that it was soaking in emergency nutrients. He dashed to the laundry room and grabbed it just before he was transported to the ship.

When he came to, he was offered a jynnan tonnix and some peanuts, and he knew that everything was going to be just fine.
