Words or Deeds: Which would you prefer,

when all you have for a footing is made to feel unsure?

It's with our deepest sympathies, a card might often read,

but it's more than hollow words that the broken really need.

You see, the most of life's greatest fears we don't even contemplate.

Yet some have faced circumstances that only God could negotiate.

The things in life that are never supposed to happen, happen to someone every day.

and those that seize upon you and yours are not for you to say.

So rather than passing others by on whom these things have fallen,

Be quick to offer a hand outstretched, instead of holding back and stallin.

Don't so quickly pass them by with words so easily spoken

Reaching out to them with words or cards that can be a mere token,

let's feed the hungry and let's give to the poor.

Because words can't fill the belly no more than gestures can lay in store.

And please remember that hearers of words are not near so much as blessed,

as doers of words who forget not others when they are so oppressed.
