Prologue
I breathed deeply and closed my eyes, with much trepidation, I shuddered. I whispered jumbled words into his ear as he grabbed my hand to console me. It was almost like the light that lit my world was gone and realization that he would be gone too, haunted me. As his hands slipped away from grasp, I sank to my knees in defeat. My heart felt heavy, like a boulder sinking to the darkest part of the ocean. His blood tainted the dirt as he was dragged away with no fight in him. That red stain is a forever, bloody memory of defeat.
