a poem of the romantic genre.
I met a smile the other day, down by a cloudy windswept bay
Where only lonely lived before, upon that softly sighing shore
So many times I’ve said goodbye, and felt another daydream die
That I returned the smile this time, a fresh beginning to a rhyme
That had us walking side by side, no words yet said, no thoughts to hide
Just eyes that set my heart aglow, so much of her yet still to know
Her cheeks rose red and dark hair blown, maybe a future we could own
Maybe a poem we could share, so many things beyond compare.

And as we walked arms softly linked, across the bay the beacon winked
As white horse whispers wandered by, beneath our dark cloud knitted sky
We felt as though we’d always knew our silk eternal me and you,
As though time waited on our smiles, to carry us for many miles
No weary feet or heavy load, just rainbows draped across our road
Of silhouetted wanderings, two love birds on soft feathery wings
Sometimes there is no need to Pray, a look is all we need to say
So many things so many times, so many more of life’s sweet rhymes.

For us a moment was a book, no need to read or even look
Just  arm to arm, just skin to skin, the way so many rhymes begin
And oh so many wander on, when loneliness at last has gone,
Then peeping through unravelled grey, pale sunlight painted down the bay
To make our shadows walk ahead, and watch the sea glow gold and red
To us it felt a summer dream, that instant in the sun’s first gleam
We’d known each other long ago, another stream, another flow
But this time we would hold on tight, and walk beneath our dream touched light…
