I step in to the garden
And what do I see?
A crowd of tomatoes
Are waving at me!
Strawberries flock
By my feet
In the fore,
Runner beans
Sprinting up poles
In their scores.
Courgettes and cucumbers
Flower with pride,
A gaggle of aubergines
Stand by their side.
A butterfly glides
Past a gooseberry bush,
Boastfully bursting
With fruits green and lush.
Carrot tops float
In a sea of dark earth
Where onion and pumpkin seeds
Quietly give birth.
Down to the back
Of the garden I go
Where apple trees blow
In the wind
In a row,
Sweet golden pepper plants
Look to the sky,
Blackberries, raspberries,
Fit for a pie!
Fresh fruit and veggies
From morning ‘til night –
Now that’s what I call
A gardener’s delight!
