A few tips on renovating your kitchen & what to keep in mind
With cable & satellite TV comes more channel options; for those who enjoy shows on interior decorating, housing, or renovating, they have quite a selection. Unfortunately, too many people watch these programs & automatically assume that they can do their own renovations or remodeling… especially on a low budget. That is where the education & research comes in.

For example, a kitchen renovation project can run anywhere from $40,000 to $80,000 depending on what is done, changes needed, space being used, materials used, etc. There have even been projects that have ran in the upwards of $100,000 or more. Every kitchen is different, and usually depends on the needs of the cook. The “rule of thumb” is usually $250 per linear foot for cabinets & countertops; which can run the budget up in numbers. Then you have to take into account whether you are using the space you already have, or if you are wanting/needing to move some walls; which is what will shoot the cost much higher. Then you need to look at the appliances you want to put in; the more high-tech the appliances, the higher the cost. Make sure you think about what you need before you go shopping for appliances. Are you more of a fancy cook or one that could compare to a Drive-In?

When you put all the pieces together, add all the numbers up, a kitchen renovation is no cheap project. Be sure that you evaluate your needs, your space, your budget; then decide whether the type of renovation you’re originally planning is feasible.
