A girl visits her dying mother in the hospital as she suddenly catches an asthma attack. |
[Introduction]
My mother lies in the hospital bed gasping for air as I grip her hand tightly. She has been fighting this for 5 years now, and I pray every single day for her to stay alive. Exactly five years ago on January 2nd, which is my birthday, my mom got diagnosed with an unknown disease. The doctors can't find the cure and aren't even sure what she has. Each month or so, something odd travels into her system and no one knows how the hell it got there. My mom is somehow still alive even though at one point, we found carbon dioxide in her system. How she is still alive is the question. Her being alive is a questioned and unbelievable miracle. My mother, Christina Perkins, has done above and beyond for me as I grew up. One thing I know is that whatever she may have, it is not contagious. I've hugged my mom and kissed her cheek countless times and I'm still the healthiest child anyone could ever see. At this very moment,my mom is now breathing normally and is relaxed.Suddenly, I feel chest pains. I'm gasping for air and I clutch my mom's shoulder tightly. I can't breathe. "Amber! Listen to me. Amber!" My mom screamed in a panicked voice. She began calming down suddenly and fumbled through her purse. There it was. My inhaler. She quickly held it up to my mouth as I slowly breathed in and out. I was at peace and alive.
