This is about a break up.
Many nights I held my pillow tight
Wishing you’d come back
Playing different scenes in my mind
Love
Teary
Cold
Anger
Every time I talked to you
My hope increased
Every time that happened
My heart broke
That day
I pleaded with you
Listened to your voice
Read your body posture
I looked in your eyes
I felt like I had been shot through the heart
Killed a thousand times
Left to heal (bleeding) without anything to numb the pain
Suddenly,
I went numb all over
My heart stopped aching
My tears dried
My smile revived
My laugh returned
Looking in your eyes
I found my answer
It was over
Completely over
No longer my soul mate
No longer my love
No longer we
It was now
You
Me
