Rick will do anything for his family...... but he would risk his life for his friends.
Tammie Jones was walking alongside the shore of the beach. Nobody was there and night had just fallen. There was a faint crunching noise that made Tammie stop. She looked around to find herself still alone. She walked back to her towel which lay only a couple feet away from the sparkling blue water. She sat down with a sigh and pulled out her cell phone. She went through her contacts until she landed on a number which was marked Real Dad. Tears stung her eyes. Recently she found out she was adopted. While sort of, her mother had married her father when she was just born but he had left before she had turned one, when her mother got over her father she had married a man named Victor, who does not care about anyone but himself. Tammie’s mother died in a fire and she was stuck with Victor. Tammie pressed the call button on her out dated blackberry and put it to her ear. “Hello?” A husky voice came on the line. Tammie couldn’t speak. He has never answered the phone before. “Hello?” He said again this time more annoyed. There was the crunching noise again only this time it was louder. It sounded like someone was right behind her. Tammie turned around to see a dark shadow towering over her. She screamed and dropped the phone. The dark figure grabbed her and covered her mouth with a cloth, she fell silent quickly.

Tammie woke up lying on a cold hard floor in the dark. She wanted to scream again but nothing came out. She stood up and reached for walls. It took her a while to find it but she flipped a switch and brilliant bright lights came on. She looked around the room where she was alone. A bed was neatly made at the far corner, a dresser full of junk and a couch. The door opened and she jumped running to the corner. A boy around sixteen, seventeen came into the room with a bag. He looked at her all scared in the corner.

“I’m sorry.” He said. Who says sorry for kidnapping somebody? She thought. “Here, its food and some clothes.” He said handing her the bag, which she didn’t take. The boy sighed and placed the bag on the bed closing the door behind him. “Please eat your too skinny.” He said eyeing her small frail body. It took her a minute but she finally got something out.

“I’m petite.” She said. He laughed. Even though he had kidnapped her she kind of felt safe with him.

“So how old are you anyways?” He asked sitting on the floor on the other end of the room.

“Thirteen.” She said bluntly. She didn’t have to lie. They sat in silence for a while.

“I’m sorry.” He said again. Tammie looked at him then back down at the floor.

“I’m pretty sure kidnappers don’t say sorry.” She told him. He nodded.

“I didn’t want to.” He said. She moved a bit closer to him.

“So why do it?” She asked. He looked at her then looked away fast.

“I couldn’t say no to him.” Now he was just rambling on about who knows what. Tammie nodded. They sat in silence again until the boy stood up and left the room. She was left in the room by herself again. She stood up slowly and went to the bed. She sat a couple inches away from the bag and just looked at it deciding if she should eat something. A couple minutes later she was looking through the bag pulling everything out. She quickly changed into the clothes he had given her and started to eat the McDonalds slowly. After eating she fell to sleep.

A week passed and the boy and Tammie did the same thing everyday, he would bring her some clothes and food then they would talk getting a little bit closer everyday. On Monday Tammie heard low talking and then loud talking. A door slammed and it sounded like the glass had broken. A couple minutes later the boy rushed into the room turning on the light. Tammie sat up in the bed.

“Get up!” he said rushing her to get out of the bed. There was a worried looked on his face. He seemed scared. Tammie obeyed and got off the bed.

“What’s going on?” She asked. He opened the window.

“Get out. Hurry.” He said ignoring her question. She climbed out the window and dropped to the ground followed by the boy. “Run!” he said and started running as fast as he could. Tammie followed trying to keep up. She couldn’t. It felt like forever but they finally stopped. Tammie was panting for air.

“What’s going on?” She asked again when she caught her breath.

“He’s here.” He said straight. By him he meant his brother who had threatened to kill him unless he found her a little girl. “He won’t find us here.” He said turning into a dark alley. Tammie followed.

“What’s your name?” She asked him.

“Rick.” She smiled.

“I’m Tammie.” There was a gunshot which made Rick jump. He looked over at Tammie who was now on the floor with blood pouring out of her chest.

“Oh god!” He turned behind him to see his brother pointing a gun at him.

“Your choice.” He said. Rick started to say something but it got cut off by another gunshot. This time it hit him in the chest. He fell to the floor with a thud. Ricks brother threw the gun and turned to walk away. The sound of sirens filled the streets. She smiled and started to walk away from the alley.
