A provoking poem about a loss of faith and how we can get it back through great risk. |
-Living Things- by Keaton Foster ** Image ID #1916838 Unavailable ** Who am I Who are you What are we Living things Viable skins Drapped over toxic sins Always facing death Embracing each breath Knowing nothing Questioning everything Not standing for something While everything else falters There will be no second chance No new beginnings Only inescapable endings God above gave us something He meant for us to keep it But along the way we’ve lost it Unable to see Blind to his vision we’ve become No longer do we truly believe What was once our strength Has become our weakness Living things Monuments to failures happening The present is all that matters A future, what an illusion It’s impossible make things right When what is right Has become nothing of interest A slide of our own hand Has left every one of us fooled And fools are not easily separated From their hemorrhaging ideals Regardless of the reality that such Blatant loses will come to mean The only way we can ever come back The only way we can ever be more Is to let go of our lives To lose every form of control To take a blind leap into faith Down below, into forever’s hole Is everything that we don’t know And everything that we have let go There within the true darkness is light There with nothing is salvation Only within the fall can we rise Only within such uncertainty Can we claim absolute conviction Such a willingness to risk it all Is what we must embrace Who am I Who are you What are we Living things Viable skins Drapped over toxic sins Always facing death Embracing each breath Knowing nothing Questioning everything Currently Not standing for something When something to believe in Is what we need most of all… Living Things Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2013 |
