For My Father, The Desert Rat

It is right
that today is          as it is
that an angel
looks down on you
when you sleep
when the sun refuses to shine
until all your dreams
are antique and sacred
and you can grasp
the true meaning  of being born
and no one can take that away from you
because it is right
that this day
remains as it is      as it should be
and even if tomorrow
is just like              the day after
you still glide upon
you still drift upon
you still live upon
earth sun moon
    today
