Do you see the ocean? Do you feel the sun? Who wouldn't want to be at the beach right now?
I am on a beach looking out into green-blue waters. Wood planks are beneath my bare feet and a canopy of white linens is over head. My frame is small but strong, and I wear a light yellow tank top and a printed sarong skirt in earthy colors. My finger nails and toe nails are painted a deep coral color. I have on a handmade brown, twine bracelet and brown wooden stud earrings that I both bought from a local shop. Under the canopy on a small table is a plate of freshly cut mangoes, pineapples, strawberries and grapes. Beside it is a tall, blue glass bottle of ice-cold water and a drinking glass I have already filled. Beside the table is a deep set couch with soft, plush pillows thrown carelessly about. They are as blue as the ocean.

As the white linens dance merrily with the wind, I sit on the couch and close my eyes. I clasp my hands together in my lap and take a deep breath, as deep as my lungs will allow. I hold if for a few seconds and let go, releasing all of my cares with it. I keep my eyes closed and concentrate on the sounds of the ocean waves. I concentrate on the wind blowing across my face and on the smells of the ocean and fresh fruit. I am covered by the shade of my canopy but I can feel the warmth on my skin. My skin is the color of burnt caramel from my time in the sun. It glows even now in the shade. I open my eyes and take a bite of mango, making sure to savor the flavor and texture as it dances across my tongue. The beach is not empty, but my canopy is far enough away from the next that it feels like I am alone. The linen curtains shade my view and there are tropical trees and plants along a stone path behind me, which lead up to the resort. The only time I ever really see someone is when the host comes back to see if I need anything, or every now and then I see someone walk down the stretch of beach in front of me. But right now, I am alone with God and his beautiful creation.

I stand up and stretch my arms to heaven, and then I remove my sarong. I am wearing yellow swim bottoms. I lay my sarong across the couch, put on my sunglasses and proceed down to the shore line which is a couple yards away. The perfect mix of sun and cool winds hit my skin, and a shiver runs up my arms and through my back. I smile. The sun is bright but the ocean is beautiful, so I lift my sunglasses to the top of my head so that they don’t disrupt the view. My bare feet finally get to the water’s edge and I let the waves creep up and tease my toes. They sink a little into the soft sand. I walk a little farther in. Now the water swims around my ankles and I sink deeper into the sand below. The water is clear and warm. I walk until I am hip deep. I let my hands skim the top of the water.

I become the sun...
dancing on crystal waves...
and melt into the blue....
