Country Soul This is the life of a country star Running the roads, travelling far, running away from emotions raw. reliving the past to fuel the song, singing about all the damage done to my lonely travelling soul. Rhinestones and platinum won’t fill the void left empty by heartache, by deeds left undone. But singing my song is what soothes this wandering mind. This is the life of a country star. Running the roads, traveling far, drowning away the emotions raw, reliving the past, chasing the song, regretting all the damage I’ve done to my wounded, questioning soul. It’s not about drama, who’s kissing who, or tabloids and tattoos or blistering reviews, it’s the little things that happen to me and you. It’s what makes the song worth the struggle we put ourselves through. Running the roads, traveling home, running towards the emotions raw, reviewing the past, rejecting regrets, fueling the song, not fearing the dread, singing 'bout the pain and peace I've found, and makin' my own kind of sound. Now this is the life, this is the life of a true country soul. I'll leave the stars for the sky. I'm gonna sing my life in a country song. Lyrics/poem 36 lines Writing Cramp 12-20-12 |
