A poem about an encounter in December.
A chill like no other
Swirled through the air,
And that crisp December night
Glistened, shining in her hair.

I search for the words and find inspiration,
But when I try to say them all I feel is her eyes
Radiance, beauty, reflecting off her smile to her heart
Who am I, to have this thing of beauty? Who is he who tries?

That’s when I remember, in the frosty night
And the warm ember of love sparks the fury of the ages in me
Dark, harsh lonely days, and the way she saved me from that with all she is
The heart of perfection and the hero of all, love has brought her here- ‘twas simple destiny

The moment draws near, and I hear the ring of a faint bell
The faint bell, the faint call, and I see that she is the only thing that is here
And then all at once, in an ever-echoing chorus of love, yet without words
There is a touching of hearts and minds and lips and love, there in that winter air

And in that, in the swirling flourish of love in the winter, there is nothing but bare-skinned love
And I hold her there, just hold her, and keep her warm against the frost
She smiles and she rests her angel-head upon my breast, and it is felt
In both of us, a shock that comes through the ages for no cost

‘Tis love we feel as the church bell tolls, and as the stars twinkle in airs unknown
We are drawn together as one, two strange souls looking for a reason
And as I look in her eyes it’s like I’m meeting her again, but I know this time it’s real
She’s taught my heart to love, and love tames every season
